At least ten (10) years in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution. The individual must be able to communicate directions and provide guidance to junior programmer/analysts, as required; At least six (6) years developing software using the Java programming language. At least four (4) years of this experience must have been obtained in the last seven (7) years. At least four (4) years demonstrated experience developing software for Windows (2000, 2003, XP, Vista), UNIX and Linux (Redhat versions 3-5) operating systems. At least two (2) years of this experience must have been obtained within the last four (4) years; Experience in planning and accomplishing goals and complicated tasks and providing consultation on complex projects as top-level contributor or specialist; Familiarity with the software development process described in the MIL-STD498, J-STD-016, and/or US 12207 and possess at least two (2) years of experience developing software in accordance with these standards; At least six (6) years in programming and development of application software for complex systems and software testing; Our research TTO (Analytic Framework) is seeking an experienced Software Engineer in Annapolis Junction. The Software Engineer will be hired to support a customer driven research project. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing theories for understanding, characterizing and organizing natural phenomena into a systematic and meaningful pattern for research into potential new analytics or processing workflows as part of the Analytics Research group. The selected candidate may participate in new open source application evaluations and development of new mission critical applications. 

Mentors junior and intern Software engineers as a senior member of the Analytics & Research engineering staff. 
Assist the Principal Investigator in coordinating interdepartmental activities, research efforts and Cyber Division wide 
Innovation funding review meetings with senior technologist. May participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications. May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.

  • Researching/development experience in software solutions for highly complex and distributed military and/or intelligence collection systems 
  • Java (6 years) 
  • C++
  • Spring, Maven
  • JUnit, XML, Eclipse, and DB storage solutions.

  • Experience developing Cyber Network Graph analytics. 
  • Experience with Streams processing frameworks including Spark, Storm and/or Info Sphere Streams. 
  • Experience with Big Data Analytics. 
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as Accumulo, HBase, and MongoDB
