The Network Communications Engineer candidate duties will include but not be limited to the following duties:
  • Analyzes, models, designs and simulates communications systems, subsystems, and algorithms for communication networks, data links, digital radio, battle management, and command and control systems such as wide and local area networks, point-to-point systems, secure systems, signal coding and modulation schema, digital radio/communications technology and network architecture design.
  • Understanding of network communications systems and system-wide engineering activities
  • Understands specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Provides detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solutions to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Conducts testing of network design.
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • Maintain and support architecture to include the software, hardware, and communications to support the total customer’s requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.
  • Ensures these Network systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for open systems architectures,
  • Ensures that the network/transport layers of the common operating environment are compliant.
  • Evaluates analytically and systematically problems of work flows and network usage, organization and planning and develops appropriate corrective action.
  • Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Creates process-flows, and improves existing processes to make network communications, operations, and troubleshooting more efficient.
  • Maintains circuits between locations working with DISA and partner organizations

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have 7 years with an Associate’s Degree 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
  • Must possess valid U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret/SCI security clearance and be clearable up through Poly
  • Must have CompTIA Security+ CE certification to meet DoD 8570 requirements.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Cisco Certified Network Associate certification (CCNA)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CCNP, Cisco CCNP-Security experience
  • Familiarity with IPSEC technologies, and securing WAN links experience
  • Standalone and router based firewall configuration experience
